Amazing Pictures
Not just one mosque, but many, survived whilst around them buildings were destroyed. Even mosques made out of wood were largely unscathed, but heavily built buildings were washed away! Of course the mosques survived. They were built woth bricks and concrete. Everything else around them were made with timber. Even the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the Andaman, and many Hindu temples in Sri Lanka survived. Not to mention the hotels in Thailand.
No no... read the article below... mosques made of even wood survived! And don't underestimate what happened here - they survived a magnitude 9 quake and then the resulting tsunami. A magnitude 9 quake, with the epicentre really close. Now that is amazing!

To the first commentator - You're talking about a statue in Sri Lanka, or things in Thailand! But that was quite far from the epicentre. This is in Banda Aceh, which is so close and is affected much much more severely. Look at the table in a below post to see how many people died in Thailand as compared to Indonesia!
tis is full evedence of the existance of a miracle from Allah! a message is being sent here thru tis tragedy and Allah is showing a jus a glimpse of his almighty power to the world tat no matter wat happens, he is the controlling ONE as to whether who perishes n who not to..to which building should go n which building should stand. Witness tis people!! for there is onlt one god n tat is ALLAH.. a mosque is his home to believers n to it shall it stand.. Amin..

Wah, amazing. I think your Allah is very powerful. Please see the mosque tower in first picture and last picture. The mighty Allah can make the highest tower for the mosque change from right hand side to left hand side . ITs a fake picture dude!!!!

Hey, I saw the last picture in news paper before, hold on ya. Oh, it said its a PALACE instate of MOSQUE.
Why are u saying ur Allah. I hope you know that Allah means God in English. The same God that Jesus(pbuh) prayed and the same God that Muhammad(pbuh) prayed to. I feel sorry for those that are in denile that these mosques stood for a reason.

There is an obvious explanation for the discrepancy in the 'Islamic' website i.e. the retriever of the photo was looking at the reverse of the negative.

Anyway - to those saying "your" Allah - that is just strange! There is only One God, your God and Our God is One, just that you do not recognise Him as you should.
If you go and watch 'Passion of Christ' (not that I recommend it), the actors in that film speak Aramaic. If you listen, you can hear that they will refer to 'God' as 'Allahu'. That is in the Aramaic language, the sister language of Arabic.
What it shows is that the Prophet Jesus, son of Mary (Peace be upon him) called God as Allahu, and we call Him as Allah. There is only One God. As taught by our prophets Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Soloman, Zakariyya, Jesus and Muhammed and the many thousands more (peace be upon them all).
This Tsunami was a test. Read this link this link if you really want to think about it deeply.

Their is not god except Allah and Muhammed is his Last Prophet (pbuh). First of all to my muslim brothers and sisters, this catastrophe was sent by Allah to remind us that our deeds are very bad and that we need to repent to him and come back to his path. Conditions my dear respected brothers and sisters come down from Allah due to our actions not of those who desbelive, so it shows us how far we have deviated as an Ummah(nation). When good deeds are sent to forward to the heavens good conditions come down from Allah and vice versa. As far as the mosques are concerned this is a mercy and a mircale of Allah(swt) showing us the HE is the controller and HE does as HE(swt)pleases. The day of judgment is extremely close my friends. Those of us who are muslim let us repent to Allah and follow the way shown to us my Muhammed (pbuh) and Jesus, Moses, Zakaryia, ,Solomon, David,Abraham and the rest of the PROPHETS (pbut all). And for our friends who are not let us seek Allah before we die and become muslim before Allah calls us to himself.

allah is one and muhammed is his messenger....this is a pure message to his believers to show them that he is there to protect his house and his followers... other building made from concrete and steel fell down like huts and the HOUSES OF GOD which some of them were made out of wood only stood still defying the great quake and the powerfull waves...its suprising some people just don't get it and keep denying the facts
These mosques are like little lighthouses of radiance and light and noor, giving out a sign of hope and a message to all those who were affected. They look so calm and peaceful.

There is a big diference between Indonesia and Sri Lanka and India. Like - thousands of miles. Like; being the heart of the epicentre and being thousands of miles away. In Sri Lanka and India, many buildings were damaged and so on, but the entire villages were not wiped out completely like in Aceh, like the pictures on this post show.
Please have good manners and talk in a civil way. Why can't you make your points without attacking and belittling? Hatred is showing from your lips but what your heart conceals may be far worse. Just ask yourself why you feel in the way you do. You need to fix it.
PS - Your theological objections are extremely shallow. Asking why this, and why that? There are posts on this blog which address your questions, if only you bothered to read them instead of hysterically trying to make us as misguided as some. These questions seem to be as a result of a lack of understanding of the nature of God.

Taking a logical stance, I would like to remind everyone that mosques are built better and stronger than any house. The walls are thicker, the materials are better and the workmanship in almost all the builds would be the best available in the island. Anyone can understand the emotional impact of a disaster like this; and religious expressions are perfectly understood. Be it good construction or deliberate signs of God. I, for one, will not make any judgements here.
lets not make this a huge issue. it is what you believe that concerns in this scenario.
but for now, it is dearly proven that Allah is Almighty and he has shown us small signs of the world coming to an end. he wants to make people realise their mistakes and start correcting their sins. that is why he is punishing us with such tragedy. people die for a reason. and for the victims in the tsunami disaster, they died for a reason. Allah is just returning what they deserve.
and the important thing is, don't criticise Allah. he made us, he made you, he made me, he made them, he made everything. he has the rights to claim everything back and vanish it in a blink of an eye.
its just time for us to start realising and start to change to become a better person.

I personally wanted to express my gratitude to the creator of this blog for collecting the relevant images and news stories from such a wide spectrum for people to see. It is impossible to conceive that any of these miracles were just chance happenings. As a mathematician, I will mention that the odds of that happening coincidentally reduce to virtually zero, or mathematically impossible, considering the population of buildings in each village, considering the ones that survived and condiering the amount of scenarios in which it occurred.
To show my point: If we say there were 100 buildings in each of the 14 villages that include pictures of mosques standing in wiped out areas on this blog (which is a clear underestimate of village populations), then the odds of the occurrence are 0.0000000000000000000000000001. Any mathematician can verify these numbers and verify that this is mathematically impossible as a coincidence. Considering the fact that in some situations the mosques were built weaker than surrounding buildings and that many well-built hotels were destroyed, this is undeniably a sign from God. For your consideration.
A useful tip for anyone who wishes to renovate their homes -- wood can sometimes be stronger and more resilient than masonry.

Two mosque were preserved
Tanjong Bungah > (mosque right on the water), apparently protected by the sand bar formed months before the tsunami
Kuala Muda > The river estuary was flowing North-Soutward, deflecting the waves away to the other banks on the north
As for the surrounding areas > only God (allah) knows the devastation caused.
It's all logical ... but it's a sign ... no doubt about that

La ilaha illalah Muhamed ur Rasulullah... Dear Muslims brothers and sisters...This is a sign of ALLAHS Mercy. Nobody can change what ALLAH wills to be done. Man with all his technology cannot make day into night if ALLAH wills to only have day. If there is a drought, man cannot make RAIN fall from the sky. We have alot of non believers that are always sceptical about our religion. Our religion is not based on sceptics view of this world, they believe in LOGIC. WE MUSLIMS have faith and conviction in ALLAH. Everything is a TEST from ALLAH. Allah willed these mosques, houses of ALLAH to stand and not be destroyed.

for my friend who says the images of the mosque in Turkey are fake, please view again and study the pictures well. the reason why u think it is fake is because one of the images is reflected horizintally, making the tower seem like its on the opposite side of what it was before. Just to remind you, dont get too excited, God cannot be proven wrong.
